The Beth Israel Sisterhood has been a member of the Seaboard Branch of the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism (WLCJ) for over 60 years. Our Sisterhood is open to all women in the synagogue membership and provides a community in and of itself. The Sisterhood is intricately involved in Synagogue life including fundraising, community service, social planning and more.
The Sisterhood is an integral part of life at Beth Israel, providing funds, services and opportunities for our Congregants. The women and daughters of Beth Israel participate in a variety of social and religious programs. Some of our annual events include Rummage Sale/Bake Sale fundraiser, Silent Auction Evening Affair, Chanukah Dinner and Festivities, and the Sisterhood’s Spring Luncheon. In addition, the members of Sisterhood come together throughout the year for Rosh Chodesh programs, luncheons with guest speakers, evening social gatherings and informal group events.
The Sisterhood’s responsibilities at the Synagogue include but are not limited to:
Preparing Kiddush and obtaining Kiddush sponsors
Coordinating and cooking for Holiday and monthly Congregational Shabbat dinners
Assisting the Rabbi in preparing for community events.
The Sisterhood members often participate in community Mitzvot projects and are always busy lending a helping hand. Warm and caring, the Sisterhood of Beth Israel helps to make our Congregation a family.
